From street homeless to employment
Up until 5 weeks prior to his appointment at Suited for Success Anthony was street homeless and sleeping rough behind Birmingham Central Library. After the Birmingham City Council Rough Sleepers team received complaints from the public saying he was begging and being a nuisance he was picked up by the enforcement team.
Unforeseen circumstances
After speaking to Anthony the homeless enforcement team realised he wasn't on drugs, alcohol or begging and was homeless due to unforeseen circumstances. After losing his job a few months ago he ended up on out of work benefits and he couldn't afford to pay his rent so lost his flat and ended up homeless sleeping rough on the streets.
Partnership working
Through partnership working between the enforcement team, the City Pastors Broad Street team, Trident Reach the charity and Suited for Success, Anthony was moved into hostel accommodation, was supported to find employment and was dressed by Suited for Success ready for a job interview with the West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA).
Anthony was accompanied by a member of the Birmingham City Council Homeless enforcement team for his Suited for Success appointment. The worker was close to tears after seeing Anthony's transformation.
Anthony was offered a training opportunity at the WMCA and also started volunteering with a homeless charity to help him prepare for future job opportunities
We love partnership working in action helping to change lives.
