Suited for Success honoured with a Queen's Award for Voluntary Service

On Sunday 20th October Suited for Success officially received a Queen's Award for Voluntary Service alongside other Birmingham and West Midlands award winners at an official ceremony that took place at the Birmingham Hippodrome. The ceremony was hosted by the West Midlands Lieutenancy.

The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service, is the highest award a voluntary group can receive in the UK. Winners are announced each year by Buckingham Palace on 2nd June – the anniversary of the Queen’s Coronation. Suited for Success is one of 281 charities, social enterprises and voluntary groups across the UK to receive the prestigious award this year.

The special event at the Birmingham Hippodrome was attended by all our volunteers and trustees.

A royal occasion

Our CEO Patricia White attended a royal garden party at Buckingham Palace in May, along with other recipients from across the UK of this year’s Queen's Award for Voluntary Service.

Patricia says: "We are absolutely thrilled that our work has been recognised, it pays tribute to the hard work and commitment of our amazing volunteers, from our core dedicated volunteer team to the fantastic teams of corporate volunteer staff teams from businesses across Birmingham and the West Midlands.

"We are looking forward to continuing to develop our work to support unemployed men and women into employment."

A team celebration

Our team celebrations continued into the afternoon with a wonderful meal together in a private dinning suite at the Birmingham Hippodrome with wonderful hospitality from the Hippodrome events team.

A message of congratulations

Suited for Success also received a congratulating letter from the West Midlands Lieutenancy. Lord-Lieutenant Mr John Crabtree OBE writes: "As Her Majesty's The Queen's Lord-Lieutenant of the West Midlands, I congratulate Suited for Success most warmly on being awarded The Queen's Award for Voluntary Service this year.

"I know that achieving this prestigious award is no mean feat. I am quite sure that everyone in your organisation will be immensely proud that all your hard work and dedication has been recognised in this way."
