HS2 at Suited for Success

We're so pleased to be working together with HS2 Ltd in Birmingham offering CSR staff volunteering days at Suited for Success to support unemployed people into employment.

From dressing and styling clients, presentation skills and interview coaching, teams of staff from departments across HS2 will be volunteering their time supporting our male and female clients of all ages and backgrounds to make that crucial first impression count in a job interview.

HS2 in Birmingham

HS2 is Europe’s largest infrastructure project, designed to increase capacity on our railways and improve connectivity between eight out of 10 of Britain's biggest cities. It will run between London and Birmingham from 2026, extend to Crewe by 2027 and then link to Manchester and Leeds from 2033.

Curzon Street station in central Birmingham will be the first brand new intercity station built in Britain since 19th century, creating a new landmark for the city and boosting opportunities for jobs and regeneration in the city. Opening with seven high speed platforms in 2026, the new station will not only be for high speed rail passengers, it will be a brand new public space in Birmingham city centre.

“HS2 employees really enjoy volunteering with Suited for Success. Patricia and her team have arranged a fantastic volunteering days,” said Graham Frankland, HS2’s Responsible Business Manager. “At HS2 we work with a range of charities, including social mobility, environmental and educational projects, and we encourage all our staff to volunteer.

"At Suited for Success, our employees share their knowledge, experience and top tips about interviews with the clients. Our employees get a lot out of the day, and were so pleased to see the positive transformations that have taken place in Suited’s clients as their confidence and belief in themselves grew ahead of their job interviews.”

HS2 supporting a day with Sport 4 Life at Suited for Success

On Thursday 6th December a team of staff from HS2's commercial team spent the day at Suited for Success supporting a group of nine unemployed young people on a employability programme with Birmingham charity Sport 4 Life.

On the day the HS2 team sat in on an interview skills workshop facilitated by the Sport 4 Life team giving their own interview tips and advice and helped out on a session of speed mock interviews. Each young person was then given a one-to-one coaching session with the team. After the interview coaching the group of young people were dressed and styled ready for a day of mock interviews with a corporate business in the city and for future job interviews.
